How quality assurance reviews can strengthen the strategic value of internal auditing

Regulatory changes are placing increased demands on internal audit. Audit committees and other stakeholders seek higher levels of assurance while new professional standards place a premium on high quality internal auditing. In this environment, heads of internal audit are challenged to develop the strategies necessary to meet increasing demands for performance, value and quality.
One strategy is to leverage an external quality assurance review to strengthen the strategic value of the function. By approaching the quality assurance review from a strategic perspective, the results of the review can serve as a roadmap to enhanced internal audit performance and value. However the path to enhanced performance requires an integrated set of strategies and tactics that go well beyond mere compliance with new internal auditing standards.

To help internal audit organizations address these demands PricewaterhouseCoopers is pleased to present a copy of our most recent thought leadership titled "How quality assurance reviews can strengthen the strategic value of internal auditing." The piece suggests a six step approach to achieving more strategic results and challenges heads of internal audit to think beyond compliance when preparing for a quality assurance review.
